Ahead of the 2026/27 winter season, the Shakespeare Hotel has expanded with five new room categories designed around practical living and thoughtful comfort. Located in the heart of Echoland, these additions pair traditional Japanese floor plans with modern amenities, giving families, friend groups, and solo travelers a reliable base in Hakuba.

The Tatami Series

Built for guests who appreciate flexible floor space, our new Tatami Series introduces low-profile futon setups and elevated lounging areas that adapt seamlessly from daytime routines to evening rest.

Tatami Family Room

Tatami Family Room (Approx. 38 sqm / 409 sqft) Pairs Western single beds with an elevated tatami lounge that converts into an additional sleeping area. The layout provides flexible room for families to unpack winter gear and settle in comfortably. Max Occupancy: 5 guests

Tatami Room

Tatami Room (Approx. 29 sqm / 312 sqft) Designed around a traditional raised tatami floor for futon sleeping, this studio offers an uncluttered, comfortable environment combining classic Japanese living with practical modern essentials. Max Occupancy: 3 guests

Tatami Loft

Tatami Loft (Approx. 30 sqm / 323 sqft including loft) Built on a split-level plan, this unit features a lower floor with a double bed and an overhead mezzanine loft accommodating up to two futons, creating dedicated sleeping and living zones. Max Occupancy: 4 guests

New Western Layouts for Privacy & Rest

In addition to the Tatami Series, we have added two Western-style options tailored for groups needing connected spaces or guests seeking a quieter stay.

Deluxe Connecting Family Room

Deluxe Connecting Family Room (Approx. 40 sqm / 430 sqft) Consists of two twin rooms linked internally by a shared entryway. This setup lets families and friends stay close while retaining individual bedroom privacy. Max Occupancy: 4 adults

Deluxe Room (Approx. 20 sqm / 215 sqft) A standalone twin room situated away from main communal areas for added quiet. Features two single beds and a straightforward, functional place to rest. Max Occupancy: 2 adults
